David Mark On Ekiti Crisis
By Emeka Okoh           newsdiaryonline.com          Friday, May 1,2009

Nigeria's Senate President, David Mark says one man one vote will end the crisis currently rocking Ekiti state as a result of the outcome of the election in the re-run governorship poll last week.

Speaking with airport reporters at the presidential wing of the Murtala Mohammed airport Ikeja,Senator Mark said the crisis would  not have snowballed into greater crisis in Ekiti if the will of the people was allowed to determine the winner of the election

According to Mark though soldiers were not meant to monitor elections but in a situation like that of Ekiti there was nothing wrong in deploying them to the state for the remaining polls in Oye Local Government."Soldiers are not deployed for elections but if they have done it in other states before, so what is the problem. Soldeirs are not meant to be deployed for election"

On the disappearance of the Resident Electoral Commissioner , Mark said Mrs Ayoka Adebayo owed the nation a proper explanation as to what she needed."In my candid opinion ,she was very very loaded and I think she holds the nation a proper explanation as to what she needs.
