As
Osun State Government under the
leadership of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola
has filed another Bomb explosion case
at the Osogbo High Court of Justice to
prosecute the eight members of the
opposition Action Congress
of Nigeria (ACN) . The Chairman of the
party in the state, Alhaji Moshood
Adeoti has described the fresh case as
an attempt to cause chaos by the ruling
party in the State.
It
would be recalled that the explosion
occurred in front of the Ministry of
Water Resources complex on June 14, 2007
in Osun State where about 24 AC now ACN
members were apprehended and charged
before magistrate court in Osogbo.....
However, those listed for full trial are
Hon. Folarin Fafowora, Hon. Timothy
Owoeye, Hon. Ganiyu Olayiwola Oyeduntan,
Sunday Akere, Hon. Sunday Laoye, the ACN
chairman Hon. Moshood Adeoti, its
secretary Prince Adegboyega Famodun and
Mr. Gbenga Fayemiwo.
In
the case file, it was alleged that they
all conspired together to injure by
explosive substances contrary to section
516 of the criminal code law of Osun
State (2) attempting to injure by
explosive substance contrary to section
336 (3) preparation to commit crime with
explosive substance contrary to section
514 and act intended to cause grievous
harms contrary to section 332 sub –
section 3 and murder, contrary to
section 319.
The
case file according to
Newsdiaryonline.com investigation today
has not been assigned to any High Court
Judge by the Chief Judge of the state
Hon. Justice Olaniyi Ojo.
Reacting to the alleged persecution
today, the chairman of the ACN, Alhaji
Moshood Adeoti in a press conference
said the prosecution was deliberately
carried out by the Oyinlola government
to incriminate ACN members in the state
ahead of 2011 general election.
According to him “this is a
surreptitious attempt by Oyinlola
government to behead ACN in connivance
with the security arms of judiciary in
order to cause possible inertia in lieu
of the coming 2011 general election in
the state”.
He
contended that Oyinlola government had
been using the security services and the
judiciary to cover its failure of
criminal deeds and make the opposition
to pay for it.
ACN
noted that the interim report forwarded
by the force criminal investigation
department (FCID) indicated that ACN
members were not involved, then why the
prosecution?
The
chairman stressed that the attempt to
frame them for murder was
deliberate, and further alleged that it
is an attempt to hold the leadership of
the ACN to ransom by a rampaging fascist
and autocratic Oyinlola government.
The
party therefore called on president
Goodluck Jonathan, and the National
Judicial Council (NSC) and the police to
wade into the matter of fake “Bomb blast
in Osun State, as the state is rapidly
building tension over the matter.
