It has been asserted that Africa will
witness great changes if the leaders will
learn to invest in basics that aim at
improving human lives in the Continent. An
American activist and former presidential
candidate, Jesse Jackson,who made this
assertion at the Murtala Mohammed
International Airport Ikeja said it was the
only way to solve the Continent’s unending
problems.
According to Jackson, a great nation and its
citizenry can only be built through
democracy, universal healthcare, portable
water and education but regretted that only
homelessness and unemployment were the major
presence in Africa.
“You build great nations and its citizenry
by democracy, drinkable water, universal
health care, education, you build great
citizens but what do we find in Africa (its)
hopelessness, unemployment, so many people
suffer from homelessness across the world,
if we can invest in the basic in improving
human lives”
While commending the country for sustaining
democracy in the Continent, Jackson
expressed the hope that all the problems
weighing Africa down will soon be over where
development will envelop the Continent.
He noted that those challenges ware not
peculiar to Nigeria but everywhere,
including Chicago where several black
Americans die from health problems.
“The US is still number one
in infant mortality, so we still have
challenges , wherever African people are
whether in US, London they still have
challenges. Human rights must be pursued
everywhere”
Jackson also stressed the need to build
relationships and sharing education,
experience and doing business with each
other with a fair trade policy..Africa needs
favorable trade policy and creates market
for its product” Concludes Jackson.
