Adamawa: CPC
raises alarm over
plot to assassinate Marwa,
Ribadu, Aminu & Haruna
Posted Thur Jan 12,2012

MarwaThe gubernatorial race in Adamawa
state is assuming a
troubling dimesion
with just over a week to the election. The Congress for
Progressive Change (CPC) in the state has raised alarm over what
it tagged
attempts to assassinate its flag bearer, General Mohamed Buba
Marwa, his vice, Chief John Manasah, Senator Jubril Aminu, Boni
Haruna and Mr Nuhu Ribadu by one of the opposition candidates.
CPC alleged that
“The opposition candidate has also concluded plans to
import marabouts from neighbouring West African country into the
state, kidnap, organize and sacrifice three (3) virgin girls at
midnight of Friday, 20th January, 2012, a day prior to the
election” adding
that “Already, we have received information that the desperate
candidate has succeeded in sacrificing a hunch-back”.
In a statement signed by the DG of the
Marwa Campaign Organization, Chief Manasah, titled ‘Statement on
Do or Die governorship Election in Adamawa state’ the party
disclosed that it was in possession of a very disturbing report
detailing the evil plots of one of the gubernatorial candidates
noting that the evil strategies of the candidate include;
assassination, kidnapping, violence and creation of total
confusion in the state in order to be able to manipulate the
election.
Manasah
gave names of others to be assassinated or kidnapped as
Chief Joel Madaki, Senator Folashade Bent, Alhaji Bawa Garba
(ABG), former minister, Dr. Hassan Lawan, former governor Boni
Haruna and General Haladu Hannaniya, ‘Several meetings were held
in several places for this particular candidate in places
including the environs of Yola, the Guest house of a traditional
ruler of middle belt origin, a house in Maitama in Abuja, where
several committees with different terms of reference have been
formed.
There is
“Committee B”:
chaired by a former member of the National Assembly and
its task is to plan for chasing away of CPC agents from polling
units, intimidation of CPC supporters to vote against their
party, snatching of ballot boxes or destroying same where the
candidates party is not winning, purchase of left over ballot
papers in polling units and thumb printing of same and escorting
the distribution of fake ballot papers, using fake police
personnel who are already being trained in some local government
areas~
CPC
called on security agencies to wade into matter, but Manasah
added “Committee
D”, which is the deadliest of all the committees and is headed
ironically by the candidate himself. The task of this committee
is to execute the kidnapping or complete elimination of General
Marwa and others.
The statement noted that , “While (we) are
calling on security agencies to take note and be proactive, we
would like to warn the candidate concerned that we in the CPC
are not in the least cowards or intimidated by these evil
machinations. While we don’t have power, money or coercive
instrument of the state in our hands, God is certainly on our
side. The people of Adamawa state are also with the CPC.
~People require change, they need good and
honest government that deliver dividends of democracy. To this
end, we call on the good people of Adamawa state and our teeming
supporters to remain firm and vigilant. On our part, we wish to
assure that we are for a free, fair and violence free election,
but we want to make it categorical, and abundantly clear that we
shall resist any attempt by anyone to rig or snatch ballot
boxes~.
“Any attempt by anyone to do any of these
activities should be prepared to face our “Democratic Guards” at
the polling units and will regret his or her action. We will
always act within the provisions of the law and will like to
seize this opportunity to call on all our party supporters to
come out en-masse on election day and vote for change and
progress, vote for Marwa and vote for CPC”.
Marwa had noted a few days back that the
killings in Mubi and Yola recently had nothing to do with the
Islamic Boko Haram. He said the killings were politically
motivated.
