The
Osun State Government on Thursday
approved the appointment of Prince Jimoh
Oyetunji Olanipekun as the new Ataoja of
Osogbo amidst controversy today.
However the newsdiaryonline
correspondent in Oshogbo who has been
monitoring events since demise of
late Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Iyiola
Oyewale Matanmi 111 learnt that
not every member of the Opeleba ruling
house to which the new monarch,
Oba Oyetunji belongs is in
as happy mood as some members of
the house said that Oyetunji does
not deserve it because he was no part of
the struggle that made their ruling
house to be included as royal family.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the state
Executive Council meeting on Thursday,
the state Commissioner for Special
Duties, Alhaji Taiwo Sunmonu said that
the appointment of Prince Olanipekun was
with immediate effect from Thursday 9th
September, 2010.
The new Ataoja succeeds the late Oba
Iyiola Oyewale Matanmi who died on
August 4 this year.
The government also announced the
appointment of Prince Muslim Adeolu
Akinmoyero Akinyode as Adaatan of Asa in
Ola Oluwa Local Government area.
Another decision taken by the government
was the award of an N376Million contract
for the procurement of a Digital
Satellite down Link/Uplink System for
the state broadcasting corporation.
