ATIKU BLASTS FG OVER ELECTORAL REFORMS

Former Nigeria's vice president,Atiku Abubakar has said that there is nothing in the federal government's white paper on electoral reforms .Atiku who spoke with airport reporters in Lagos declared that Nigerians have seen what the government can do that the PDP government does not have the capacity and ability to really to push through a real electoral reform that will satisfy all participants in the process

''We have seen what the government can do. They have put out their own white paper, there is nothing in that white paper . I do not think the PDP government has the capacity really and the ability to push through a real electoral reform that will satisfy all participants in the process. As far as I am concerned, my priority has always been a better country'' On the call for the formation of a mega party, the former vice president said it was a welcome development as such party will have strong opposition to compete on a very strong term with the ruling party.

''It is a welcome development. I believe if you have one strong opposition party, it will compete on a very strong terms with the ruling party. There is need for all progressive  elements to come together under this one mega party so that they can provide alternative to the conservatives. My position has always been that we should have alternative , a strong party , an  alternative to the ruling party''

Atiku explained that his relationship with his former governors was still cordial  irrespective of their political affiliations. ''They still remain my friends, whether they are in PDP, AC, ANPP, or in Labour Party, I still have a collection of them and I can still call on them to rally around''.
