Port Harcourt Tragedy:Atiku Calls for Thorough Investigations

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described the death of about a dozen men,women and children in a stampede at the Presidential political rally on Saturday in Port Harcourt as an exceptional tragedy that has befallen the nation and asked that a thorough investigation be carried out to determine the remote and immediate causes of the incident. 

In a message of condolence issued by his media office in Abuja on Sunday, Atiku conveyed his sad feelings on the "terrible and  exceptional tragedy" to the President Dr Goodluck Jonathan, the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP and the Nigerian people.

 Atiku urged the country to accept what happened and learn from it. He implored the party and the government not desert the families of the bereaved heroes of democracy.

The former Vice President prayed for the repose of their souls.
