Former Vice President and presidential
aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Atiku Abubakar has urged his
supporters in Adamawa State and other states
to take a cue from him and return to the
party for good. Atiku made the call
yesterday during a visit to Adamawa to
attend the Annual Founder’s Day of the
American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola.
“For any one still harbouring any doubts
about my return to our great party, the PDP,
let me assure that I am back for real and in
it for the long run. And to those my
supporters in Adamawa and elsewhere yet to
make good their return to the PDP, I urge
them to come back home
and rejoin us in the bid to make good
things happen in our dear country,” he said.
Addressing party supporters and the
executive of Adamawa chapter of the PDP at
the party’s secretariat in Yola, the former
Vice President said he had forgiven all
those who worked against his return to the
ruling party.He assured that he would
assiduously work for the PDP’s success from
the ward to the national levels.
He told the PDP state exco that had all its
members in attendance with the exception of
the Chairman, Umaru Maijam-a Kugama, who had
taken his son to the University of Maiduguri
Teaching Hospital (UMTH) that contrary to
speculations he did not at any time take the
state PDP executive to court. He later
donatedN5m for the running of the state
party secretariat.
Responding on behalf his colleagues,
Secretary of the Adamawa State PDP, P. P.
Elisha paid tributes to what he described as
Atiku’s a reservoir of political
knowledge.
“It is clear that Atiku is a reservoir of
political knowledge. All of us from Adamawa
have no option but to tap from his wealth of
experience,” he said.Atiku had earlier
visited the palace of Lamido of Adamawa, Dr.
Barkindo Aliyu
Mustafa
where he was received by the Lamido-in-council.
The former Vice President arrived Yola
Airport at about 10.30am to a tumultuous
welcome of supporters who thronged the
entire length of the road from the airport
to the metropolis.
