Audu: ACN gubernatorial
candidate
The candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Kogi
State, Prince Abubakar Audu has reiterated his resolve not to
probe the outgoing administration of Governor Ibrahim Idris if
voted into office. This came even as thousands of Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) supporters yesterday defected to the ACN
in Olamaboro, Ankpa and Omala Local Government Areas of the
state.
To express their displeasure with PDP, the members who decamped,
openly tore and destroyed their membership cards.Audu's Media
Officer, Sanni Onogu in a statement in Lokoja said the people
were overjoyed and excited when the campaign train of the
governorship candidate of the ACN made a stop at the respective
councils. Onogu added that the Ankpa Township Stadium was not
only filled to capacity but overflowed into the adjoining
streets when Audu rode on a motorcade into the arena.
A former House of Representatives member and All Nigeria Peoples
Party (ANPP) senatorial candidate for Kogi East during the April
elections, Hon. Attai Idoko Ali also joined Audu's campaign
rallies.
Audu had earlier visited the Otaru of Otabaka in Olamaboro,
Chief Ademu Abu,
the Onu of Ankpa, Alhaji Abdulmalik Umar and the Onu of Ife
(JORGBA) and Chairman of Omala Traditional Council, Chief
Boniface Musa.
At the three palaces, the ACN candidate promised to build
befitting palaces for all traditional rulers in Kogi State and
raise their present monthly allocation of three per cent to 20
per cent if voted into office.
He also promised to make the welfare of all traditional rulers a
priority by buying limousines for all the first class chiefs.
This he said would put them at par with their counterparts in
the far North.
"Jeep is for young men. It is an embarrassment for a traditional
ruler to use Jeep. No traditional ruler in the far North is
using Jeep. Commissioners are using Jeeps, Special Advisers are
using jeeps but I will buy limousines for you so you can be
equal with your colleagues in the far North," Audu stated. He
also promised not to engage in vengeance or litigation if
elected.
Audu said: "I will not have time for litigation. I am not coming
for vengeance. If I take Ibrahim Idris to EFCC and they handcuff
him, what will I gain from that? There is going to be much work,
so I will not have time for vengeance. “When I come in, I will
draw a line. Whatever Ibro has done in the past would not be my
concern. I am coming to
work to bring development to the state. So I will not have time
for distractions."
