The Ijebu traditional council, headed by
the Awujale and Paramount ruler of
Ijebuland,Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona has
thrown its full weight behind the
developmental agenda and economic
programmes of the Ogun State Government.
It has also enjoined all indigenes of
Ijebuland to support the actualization
of the projects and programmes
especially those domiciled in Ijebuland.
The Council took the decision on Tuesday
at the Palace of the Awujale after a
presentation of the progress report of
the economic agenda and development
programmes of the Otunba Gbenga Daniel
administration by the office of the
Economic Adviser.
Oba Adetona who attended the briefing
session with other traditional rulers of
the Council said projects such as the
O.K. LNG, Agro Cargo airport, free trade
zones, Abeokuta City Centre Development,
industrial parks and light rail projects
have built in elements of critical
infrastructure development which must be
carried out by Government. He said from
briefings from Government officials the
proposed N100bn bond was to create
necessary infrastructure so that the
private sector, who would be the drivers
of the projects, would be encouraged to
fast track the various projects.
“We will support the projects in all
parts of the state especially the ones
in Ijebuland 100 percent. . Indeed it
will be a shame and a taboo for any
Ijebu citizen to be in opposition to
the projects or oppose the process
through which the projects will be
funded which is the bond issuance , we
must all support the projects, 100% as
well as the funding process because of
the future of our State,” the Awujale
further stated.
Miss Yosola Akinbi, Economic Adviser to
the Governor, in her presentation,
chronicled the various projects and
steps taken so far to actualize them.
She said the present administration has
successfully launched the state on the
path of irreversible economic growth.
She stressed that the Otunba Gbenga led
administration has firmly evolved a
comprehensive master plan to aid
simultaneous development in all parts of
the state. She said the strategy
has significantly improved Agriculture
production , Commerce, development of
critical Infrastructure and encouraged
private sector participation in socio
economic development of the State. She
said the actualization of the projects
would make Ogun less dependent on hand
out from the centre.
Otunba Daniel who attended the briefing
session noted that the meeting was
crucial at this point in time as the
administration was on the final path of
consolidating its agenda for
development.
Governor Daniel said the success of the
projects would ensure a win-win
situation for the state through
generation of massive employment and
more revenue for provision of other
basic public facilities and utilities.
