Heckling of Gov Daniel is Bad Politics-- Awujale
Sat March 19,2011

The Awujale of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Adetona has appealed to
politicians not to overheat the polity with dirty politics that
seems to have become the order of the day. Oba Awujale who spoke
during the induction of 18 citizens of Ogun Extraction into the
State's Hall of Fame said he was saddened by the event of March
12, 2011 where some persons were paid to heckle the Governor of
Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel during the visit of President
Goodluck Jonathan on campaign tour. The paramount Ruler of
Ijebuland said that from the information available to him the
Egba did not heckle the Governor but a few individuals who were
playing politics and paid some persons to embarrass the
Governor. He said it was not the right thing to do especially
since in the estimation of many citizens of Ogun State Otunba
Daniel has done creditably well in the last eight years.
“What happened on that day was bad politics and we should all
condemn it and those behind it. All of us must rise up against
this abnormal behavior. It is very wrong; politicians should
desist from this kind of dirty politics. It is also wrong
because Governor Daniel has done very well, he has transformed
Ogun State and so he should not be paid back in this way. I
congratulate him and want to assure him that the Ijebu are
solidly behind him and I’m sure that God and posterity would be
kind to him”, the Awujale said.
The paramount ruler also canvassed that the country should
return to the parliamentary system of Government saying the
presidential system was too expensive and cumbersome. He said
only the parliamentary system of Government would lead the
country to the Promised Land.
Among the prominent citizens who were inducted into the hall of
fame were Oba Adetona, Chief Simeon Adebo, Pa Abraham Adesanya,,
