SSS Arrests Usman Bugaje in Abuja

Reports today  said Dr Usman Bugaje was  arrested   by State Security Service SSS  operatives in Abuja.But a source claimed he might have been released. However, attempts by Newsdiaryonline to confirm his release proved abortive as Bugaje did not pick the call to his phone which rang on end.

Bugaje, a chieftain of Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN  ran for the last gubernatorial election in Katsina state.It was not immediately clear why he was arrested but it was alleged that  it may not be unconnected with the on-going protests against fuel subsidy.

He is a veteran of pro democracy struggle as he was one of those who struggled against military rule  during the Sani Abacha junta.
