Nigerians
must cultivate the habit of appreciating good performance by
leaders who show commitment to the overall development of the
nation instead of the current situation where leaders are lumped
together for vilification. Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga
Daniel ,stated this when the Presidential flag bearer of the
congress for progressive change (CPC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari,
paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor’s office, Abeokuta.
Governor Daniel stressed that if good performances were not
celebrated, leaders may just be content with putting up below
average performance which would not take the country to the land
of promise. Governor Daniel told his visitors
including Pastor Tunde Bakare, the running mate, and
other leaders that his administration had transformed Ogun State
and turned it into the nation’s leading investment destination
of choice. He said in spite of the giant strides , the
administration has been constantly vilified. He maintained that
prudent financial re-engineering and internal capacity
development has greatly reduced over inflation of project
contracts in the state.
Otunba Daniel said General Buhari had done the proper thing
by paying the courtesy noting that such gesture would
encourage politics without bitterness. He said Nigerians should
do away with violence and other things that would mar the coming
elections.
Earlier, General Buhari, stressed that he remains a
son of Abeokuta town as he was commissioned as a military
personnel in 1963 and has worked with various indigenes of the
state in so many capacity. He said was propelled to seek the
mandate of Nigerians in order to effect positive change in the
polity. He aligned with Governor Daniel that everything must be
done to ensure that the coming election was free and fair while
all parties must avoid violence and acts that could disrupt the
polls.
