has called on President
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to establish a Nigerian Tourism Bank
Ltd. Dr.Usim-Wilson made the call while speaking on The Nigeria
Television Authority [NTA] live interactive & current affairs
program, “Tuesday Live” as a co-discussant. Dr. Usim-Wilson, is

Resources In The Economic Sub-Sector Of
Tourism”.
The
establishment of the
Nigerian Tourism Bank Ltd , she explained, would provide
the necessary institutional infrastructure that will drive, grow
and offer progressive direction towards achieving Nigeria’s
economy especially in the development administration of
tourism as the nation’s
foreign exchange earner.
Her
call on President Jonathan to see to the actualization of this
vital initiative, she
explained, would give a positive boost to the transformational
agenda of the present government.She said initiative must
be actualized in such a way that it must be an interface
between the public and private sectors as equal stakeholders.
This is even as Chief
Edem Duke, one of Nigeria’s high-flyers in tourism, currently,
the Honorable Minister of Culture, Tourism & National
Orientation, announced that, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,
had less than barely 48 hours earlier, given institutional
endorsement to the establishment of
a National Tourism
Development Fund but gave no further details about its
actual take off period, operational schedules and stake-holding
profile.
Dr.
Usim-Wilson, used the instance of the multi-logic television
discussion programme to also request President Jonathan to
review the current funding of the Federal Ministry of Culture,
Tourism and National Orientation in order to enable the Ministry
pursue value-added novel objectives that would complement the
positive
milestone currently
recorded by Chief
Edem Duke as Minister.
She said the Ministry
under the leadership of
Chief Edem Duke has witnessed a lot of
transformational goals in the
pursuance of
his Ministerial
mandate , since he assumed office.
