Daniel Accuses ‘a cabal’ of plotting
to keep him out of circulation

Former Governor of Ogun State Gbenga Daniel has described as
“vile propaganda ( and) absolutely
false, the claim by one Biodun Sowunmi alleging that persons
close to Otunba Daniel were threatening his life’’. According to
a statement by Adegbenro Adebanjo, media assistant to the former
governor, the latest allegation is part of the schemes by ‘a
cabal’ to put him out of circulation.
A statement issued today said “Let us state categorically that
there is absolutely no truth whatsoever in the baseless
allegation which is being orchestrated by the same group which
has continued to work to discredit and demonize the former
governor. We are aware that certain persons who for reasons best
known to them believe that
the former governor is a
stumbling block to their political ambition have stepped
up their deliberate perfidy and are funding different projects
and schemes with the sole purpose of getting Otunba Daniel out
of circulation and off the political scene .’’
Adebanjo added : “This cabal has found willing and ready tools
in some persons masquerading as human rights activists but whose
main occupation is extorting money from high net worth
individuals particularly government officials . In the current
situation they are being patronized to peddle all sorts of lies
by a government which has not hidden its war of attrition
against Otunba Daniel.
It is this same group that created the phantom killer
squad which it has constantly given currency to through various
subterfuges and propaganda.’’
Ex Governor Daniel is presently
being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC .But the former governor received a strong
delegation of Afenifere leaders
who said they came on a fact -finding mission.This
recent unexpected
twist gave observers the
impression that some top-level politics
may in fact be
the source Daniel’s
unfolding travails.

NEW SMEAR CAMPAIGN AGAINST OTUNBA DANIEL
Once again we are constrained to issue a rebuttal to another
carefully designed campaign of calumny and dark propaganda
against the person of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Governor of
Ogun State. The latest of this vile propaganda is the absolutely
false claim by one Biodun Sowunmi alleging that persons close to
Otunba Daniel were threatening his life.

It is obvious that the purpose of the unwarranted allegation by
Sowunmi is to give a wrong impression with the purpose of
misleading right thinking members of the society about
the person of Otunba Daniel. The ultimate aim is to try and sway
public opinion against the former governor in the believe that
this will influence the judiciary in the ongoing trial of the
former governor since some of them have continued to vow that
they will do everything to ensure that Otunba Daniel's bail is
revoked during the next hearing of the case against him. This is
actually the main reason for the new onslaught against the
former governor and why more and more agents of propaganda are
being recruited and deployed against him.
We believe that ultimately this new plot will fail as others
before it. We are also sure that members of the public will not
allow these peddlers of falsehood and their patrons to hoodwink
them with another of their politically motivated allegations.
Henceforth legal action will be taken against these persons who
thrive in using propaganda and falsehood to assail hard earned
reputation. This vile trade in falsehood and propaganda against
Otunba Daniel will be check mated via the law courts.
