The four northern  presidential aspirants, Generals Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida,IBB,Aliyu Gusau and Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State all met at the Asokoro  residence of  Abubakar  Atiku in  Abuja today.Atiku was earlier in the week named as the northern PDP consensus candidate.

Newsdiaryonline learnt that the four of them met behind closed doors to deliberate apparently  on how to strengthen the consensus agenda.A source close to them said their meeting today is an indication that the consensus plan is working.``I think it will be very unwise for any one of them to work against Atiku.The consensus plan is beyond any of the aspirants and they will hitting themselves against the wall if they choose to go against the consensus plan ’’said an insider in reaction to reports on the rumoured plan by IBB to defect to a rival party.

IBB himself shocked reporters waiting for them as he announced that all of them will campaign for Atiku, thus deflating those who thought IBB may bolt out of the PDP.Maradona who issued a mercurial statement yesterday also said today  he would not trade words with Obasanjo over the choice of Atiku .IBB said OBJ was his boss in the military and he would not join issue with him.Obasanjo said’ I dey laugh’ as his reaction to the choice of Atiku.

IBB also announced that Senator Ben Obi is the new DG of Atiku’s  presidential campaign .Until recently, Obi was the director General of the Aliyu Gusau Presidential Campaign.Interestingly, Obi was Atiku’s running mate in the 2007 Presidential race during which the former vice president  ran on the platform of the Action Congress,AC which is now ACN.

Newsdiaryonline learnt that Obi has been given the task of integrating all the four campaign organisations into one.There will be others  directors but Obi will be the director general.

Mohammed Gana:Gen IBB, I have alot of respect for you particularly that i regard you as my father being a fellow nigerlite. Sir, from all indications, Jonathan will defeat Atiku in the primary. You were the only one feared by the jonathan group. The NLPF made a great mistake by opting for Atiku. therfore the  only hope for the North now is Gen Buhari whom you people should encourage to team up with the ACN.
