FINALLY, COURT COMPELS POLICE TO INVESTIGATE DIKKO AND BRING REPORT TO COURT

Based on a private criminal complaint filed by Mr. Festus Keyamo at the 
Chief Magistrates Court, Abuja, Her Majesty, the Hon. Chief Magistrate O. O. Oyewunmi (Mrs.) on 
Thursday October 22,2009 ordered the police to 
investigate the certificates  of the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Alhaji 
Abdullahi Inde Dikko, and bring their report back to the court,a press statement by Anthony 
Omaghoni ,deputy head of of Keyamo's  chambers said.This is part of the unfolding drama about
the  certificate forgery allegation raised against Dikko.  Read the details of the court's

DIRECT CRIMINAL COMPLAINT BROUGHT PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 143 (d) AND 152 OF THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURE CODE.

 

Kindly cause a Direct Criminal Complaint to be issued against Alhaji Abdullahi Inde Dikko at the instance of Festus Keyamo and Olajide Ibrahim and upon the following particulars.

 

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE

 

1.      The first Complainant is a legal practitioner, of Festus Keyamo Chambers 13, Nouakchott Street, Near Bank PHB, Wuse Zone 1, Abuja.

 

2.      The 2nd Complainant is a Nigerian citizen, resident at Ibadan in Oyo State, and participated, together with the accused person, in the events forming part of this complaint.

 

3.                That on Monday, August 31st 2009 the 2nd Complainant herein approached the 1st complainant alleging the following crimes against the accused person :

 

(a)     Theft of two certificates (No. 10912 and 10993) belonging to the Nigerian Institute of Management contrary to Section 286(1) of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code.

(b)    Forgery of two certificates (No. 10912 and 10993),  belonging to the Nigerian Institute of Management contrary to Section 362 and punishable under Section 364 of the Penal Code.

(c)     Forgery of West African Examinations Council Certificate No. NGSG 37836 D contrary to Section 362 and punishable under Section 364 of the Penal Code.

(d)     Using as genuine forged documents, that is, Certificates No. 10912 and 10993 belonging to the Nigerian Institute of Management and West African Examinations Council Certificate No. NGSG 37836 D (which were part of documents presented by the Accused in Abuja to become Comptroller-General of Customs) contrary to Section 366 of the Penal Code.

(e)     Being in possession of forged documents in Abuja that is, Certificates No. 10912 and 10993 belonging to the Nigerian Institute of Management and West African Examinations Council Certificate No. NGSG 37836 D contrary to Section 368 of the Penal Code.

(f)      Criminal intimidation of one Olajide Oyewole Ibrahim contrary to Section 396 and punishable under Section 397 of the Penal Code.

 

4.      That the 2nd Complainant also proceeded to swear to an affidavit at the High Court of Lagos on the 1st day of September 2009.

5.      The said affidavit is hereby annexed and marked “EXHIBIT KEYAMO 1”

6.      The 2nd Complainant as a Nigerian with interest to see to the proper investigation of alleged crimes undertook to assist in making sure that the allegations are thoroughly investigated and those found wanting brought to book.

7.      That the 2nd Complainant wrote a petition to the President and Commander-in-Chief over the matter. The said petition is annexed “KEYAMO 2”

8.      That when the President and Commander-in-Chief did not respond, the 2nd Complainant again wrote to:

(a) The Director General State Security Services.

(b) The National Security Adviser.

(c) The Inspector General of Police.

(d) The Minister of Finance.

(e) The Attorney General of the Federation.

The petition is attached as “EXHIBIT KEYAMO 3”.

9.      That the Complainants are not compelled to bring a Direct Criminal Complainant against the accused person.

10.    That the society is crying for justice and only an intervention by the Court can answer the cry.

11.    That it will be in the best interest of justice to bring the accused person to answer to this Complaint.

12.    That this Court has the power to direct that the accused person be brought to answer to the Complaint.

13.    That this Complaint is made in good faith.
