Jigawa state Governor Sule Lamido took his campaign for
reelection to Hadejia yesterday. The massive crowd of supporters
was as intimidating as it was inspiring.Emir of Hadejia,Alhaji
Adamu Abubakar Maje says everyone could see that Governor
Sule Lamido has worked. He said the works are both on the ground
and in the air, a reference to the roads and electricity
respectively.Speaking at a pre-rally courtesy call on the
traditional ruler yesterday in Hadejia,Alhaji Adamu Maje said
the truth is that God has put a leader in Jigawa as answer to
the prayers of the people. He advised voters to assess
politicians seeking for power in terms of what they have done
for the people.
The Emir of Hadejia said
the recent grant of N10b by the FG
for the Hadejia Valley project was an entirely Lamido
effort, not any other person. He said the grant can only be
appreciated by those who know that this project had been
abandoned for 21 years by successive regimes.Restating that only
God gives power to whom and when He wants,Alhaji Maje said
peaceful co-existence is what is primary in Nigeria and that
nobody is above the law whe it comes to peaceful existence.
Addressing the massive capacity crowd
eventually, Governor Lamido said only God could make that size
of the crowd possible. He said the capacity of the crowd was
testimony that his
critics were like a farmer adding fertilizer to his crop. But he
said he was equally intimidated by the large crowd because it
was also a measure of the expectations, praying God to help him
and wipe out the tears of the masses. But he was happy
thata there could be such a crowd in one place without a
case of stabbing, thuggery,Indian Hemp or any other drug
usage.Lamido said the crowd had put to shame those who peddled
stereotypes of Hadejia as a hotbed of permanent
opposition, saying it was the new image of Jigawa in terms of the
educated, dignified and decent citizen who stood out whether he
or she was in Enugu
or Lagos or Abuja or anywhere in Nigeria.Hadejia is the third of
Governor Lamido’s gubernatorial campaign flagged off last Monday
