Bomb blast : Dokpesi seeks N100 million damages over arrest

 Chief Raymond Dokpesi, director general of Ibrahim Babangida’s presidential campaign organization has sued the State Security Service, SSS  over his arrest ,detention and interrogation .He was recently detained over the October 1st bomb  blast in Abuja.The suite which is a matter of application for the enforcement of the fundamental rights of Dokpesi has the DG  of Babangida’s campaign as applicant while the State Security Service, SSS and the Attorney General of the Federation are  listed as respondent

In the suit, Motion No FHC/ABJ/CS/711/2010 filed at the Federal High Court Abuja  Dokpesi is seeking ``the sum of N100,000,000(One Hundred  Million Naira) as damages  for the unlawful and unwarranted infringement by  the respondent of the Applicant’s right to freedom of movement ,personal liberty and human dignity ''

The Motion  on Notice  signed  by Kano Agabi, SAN prays the court  among others for ``a declaration that the applicant , not being involved in or in any way with the person or persons , organization or organizations responsible for the bomb blast which occurred on the 1st day of October 2010  at  the Eagle Square Abuja , has committed no offence to warrant his continued arrest or detention or questioning  or harassment or intimidation by the 1st Respondent(SSS) as a suspect in that connection’’

``A declaration that   the arrest, detention ,harassment and undue questioning  of the Applicant  on the false , malicious and baseless allegation  of implication in the bomb blast which occurred on the 1st day of October 20101  at Eagle Square , Abuja constitutes a gross violation of the rights of the  applicant and is unlawful and unconstitutional’’

He is also seeking an order for his release from bail as well as ``an order restraining the respondent and /or their agents from further harassing , intimidating and /  or detaining  the applicant ``.
