Dr Olusegun Adeleye faults CPC’s arrogance in Kano
Sat Feb 26,2011
The Executive Secretary, Board of Trustees of Nigeria Youth
Organization, Dr Olusegun Adeleye has picked hole in the crisis
of arrogance coming from the leadership of the Congress for
Progressive Change over the gubernatorial primaries of the party
just conducted in Kano state.
His condemnation came as a result of the undemocratic stand of
the party towards its aspirant in Kano state Alhaji Muhammed
Abacha who contested the election against Brig Gen Jafaru Isa
and won with a total of 144,066 votes but was denied to fly the
party’s flag for the April poll.
In a press statement released to journalists, in Abuja, he said
the party in spite of its stand on due diligence decided to
create what he calls, “internal wrangling and unwarranted
acrimony” within the ranks and files of their members thereby
reducing the entire political race to a mere child play.
The said election he said was witnessed massively by all
stakeholders to the election who testified that it was peaceful
but wondered why the party decided to substitute the name of
Muhammed Abacha when it was clear that he won the election.
He commended the winner Muhammed Abacha for not seeking illegal
means of seeking redress but chose to go to court where justice
will be done eventually. According to him, that singular act is
one of the attributes that he possess to change the circle of
leadership in the state.
According to him, there is no doubt that between Abacha and Isah,
the youths of Kano preferred the former because of his
youthfulness.
“There is no doubt that Muhammed Abacha better appeals to the
younger generations who do not only recognize him as one of them
but are willing to swim through thick and thin with him to
actualize their dream of a generational shift in power, ” he
said.
This, he said was the reason for the enthusiasm demonstrated for
his candidature during the election. For the peaceful manner the
election was conducted, he says, no one can say the youths
exhibited any trace of thuggery during the election.
He therefore appealed to the party in the state to close rank
with Muhammed Abacha in order to ensure victory for the party.
