Dr Kayode Fayemi, the
newly sworn in governor of
Ekiti state has joined the clamour
for an electoral Crimes Commission to punish
election riggers.Fayemi made this
call
today while addressing journalists in Abuja
at the headquarters of the Independent
National electoral Commission, INEC.
The new governor was at
the INEC headquarters to formally receive
his certificate of return as the validly
elected governor of Ekiti State.A panel of
Court of Appeal Justices in Ilorin last
Friday ruled that Fayemi actually won the
2007 election and also the 2009 rerun polls
and
that Segun Oni should vacate office since
Fayemi
by every valid votes
available
was
the duly elected
governor
at the last polls.
In view of his
three –year ordeal,Fayemi said it is very
important to give serious and careful
consideration to the clamour for an
electoral crimes commission.
Speaking earlier
Profession Attahiru Jega pledged to work
with Fayemi since INEC is a law abiding
organ.Fayemi also described his emergence as
governor as victory for democracy, rule of
law and integrity.
