As part of activities marking the country’s golden jubilee anniversary, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has appealed to Nigerians to accept all the three denominations which are now in circulation in the country for exchange of goods and services as they are all legal tender.

Launching the #50 commemorative note to mark the 50th independence Anniversary of Nigeria in Osogbo, the controller of CBN in Osun State, Mr. Oyibo Atteh said that all the three sets of #50 denomination notes including the old note, the polymer note and the new commemorative note are all legal tender in the country as long as they have security lines provided by the CBN.

He said that the new N50 commemorative notes has the independence anniversary logo in addition to all security provided by the CBN, said he “the CBN is the only authority to issue Bank notes” adding ”it is illegal and unlawful for anybody to reject any note issued by the CBN”.

He however appealed to the people to accept all the notes for legal transactions. He also advised commercial banks to issue the new notes to customers immediately so that the notes would be in circulation and appealed  to the people to go to banks to exchange the new notes
