African leaders urge Jonathan to avert
violence
in
Nigeria

Global powers
have been mounting
pressure on President Goodluck Jonathan urging him to avert
violence in
Nigeria. Leaders from two African countries are said to have
specifically told the president that no African country can
handle refugees that may arise from any untrammelled violence in
Nigeria. So they have urged the president to ensure that
necessary steps are taken to ensure the unfolding crisis does
not degenerate beyond control.
The United States,US
it was learnt
specifically reached out to President to express concern over
the outbreak of violence in the aftermath of the
anti-fuel subsidy
protest.
Yesterday reports said at least
10 people were
killed.The outbreak of violence in Gombe led to the suspension
of public protest.In Kaduna today, protest was suspended as
violence broke out. The protests
however continued across the country.
