Former Vice President and presidential
aspirant of the PDP,Atiku Abubakar and
Governor Danjuma Goje of Gombe during the
former Vice President's visit to Gombe...Tuesday
Former Vice President and PDP presidential
aspirant threw Gombe town into a celebratory
mood Tuesday as he made a grand entry into
the state to hunt for delegates.
Supporters trooped out in thousands and
lined up on both sides of the town's main
thoroughfares as Atiku's convoys of cars,
four wheel drives, mini vans and trucks
crawled through the streets.
Excited young men and women in Atiku vests
and caps sang and danced to campaign songs
in Hausa.
It was home coming of sort for Atiku. "Gombe
and Adamawa share a lot in come
historically, culturally and politically. So
for me this is home coming," Atiku told his
chief host Governor Danjuma Goje.
Ordinary people voiced out their delight at
seeing Atiku and Goje together again. Atiku
told the governor and party delegates that
he would complete the Dadin Kowa hydro dam
as president to provide stable power in the
North-east.
On his part, Governor Goje said he would
support any aspirant that can give the state
a fair deal. He described Atiku as his elder
brother who has done so much to entrench
democracy in Nigeria.
Atiku also spoke about the successful
unification of the four northern campaigns
adding that the presence of key officials of
the four was enough proof that things were
working excellently among them.
On his entourage were former Senate
President Ken Nnamani, former CBN Governor
Prof.
Chukwuma Soludo, former police affairs
Minister Yakubu Lame and several
others.
Atiku met with PDP delegates and asked for
their support. He also paid courtesy call on
selected traditional rulers in the state.
