Minimum wage :Govs bow to workers at last

  Sat July 16,2011

The 36 state governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) have bowed to workers’  demand and decided  to move for the implementation of the N18, 000 new minimum wage “without  further delay''

The NLC  had served notice of a  three day  warning strike slated for Wednesday July 20 .A full scale strike may follow if nothing is done about the minimum wage, NLC said.
``On the issue of the new minimum wage, the forum resolved to comply with the provisions of the Minimum Wage Act,’’ the communique, read by Dr. Rotimi Amaechi, the forum's chairman and Rivers State  governor said.

The forum  equally added its voice to the Borno crisis by condemning the worsening security situation in Borno State and the attendant loss of lives and properties .The Forum  urged the leadership of the state to ``do everything possible to curtail the situation''.
