A new Principal
Secretary
was appointed today by President
Goodluck
Jonathan. He is Hassan Tukur from Adamawa
State.He
replaces David Edevbie an acolyte of
former Governor James Ibori of Delta
state.Edevbie’s appointment
as principal secretary
by late President YarAdua was the final
testament to
the
power Ibori wielded while YarAdua
lasted
as
the President.
Aside from his being linked with the
court cases involving his former boss,
Edevbie
also
got involved in the controversy over the
2009
supplementary
Budget which he took to Saudi Arabia for
YarAdua’s signature.Up till today,
no one has been told who actually signed
the budget
as YarAdua was too ill to sign any
document.
Tukur
,his successor
is an experienced public servant .He is
very conversant with the workings of the
presidency and he is expected to bring
his wealth of experience to bear.Perhaps
his youthfulness, brilliance and deep
understanding of national issues
will
also come in handy.He
may be a reliable
link
for
strengthening President Jonathan’s
contacts
with the
North.He
is
sure
to serve as the bridge builder of
immense value .
Mr Ima Niboro was also appointed as the
new Special Adviser ,Media and
Publicity, a post recently vacated by
Segun Adeniyi.
President Jonathan also appointed Mike
Oghiadomhe as the new chief of
staff.Effectively
this appointmet revives
the post which had been unoccupied since
the sack of General Mohammed Abdullahi
(retired).
The surprise of the day was the sack of
Shehu Ladan as the Group Managing
Director of NNPC.Austin
Oniwon is the new GMD ,NNPC.No reason
was given for the sudden sack of Ladan .
