Nigerian victims of
Saudi Persecution home bound
Newsdiaryonline Tue Feb 22,2011
There were strong indications Tuesday night that two Nigerians who have been persecuted and
hitherto banned from travelling out of the country
by the authorities of
Saudi Arabia may be on their way back home.
Newsdiaryonline learnt thatAbdullahi
Suleiman Ahman,a victim of mistaken identity and his mother are
air bound now, expected to land in Nigeria on Wednesday.Ahman
was wrongfully arrested in Saudi Arabia over an alleged
business deal with a
Saudi Prince.Though he was charged to court, it became evident
that he was not the business partner who allegedly duped the
prince. But a travel ban placed on him made it impossible for
Ahman and his mother to travel out
until this lucky break tonight.
There were also unconfirmed reports that
the Nigerian embassy in Saudi May have helped to ensure return
of the Nigerians .The plight of Ahman and his mother was
exposed recently in a
well publicised article by Colonel Abubakar Umar (rtd).
Sources said after the publication, Odein
Ajumogobia, Nigeria’s minister of Foreign affairs summoned the
Saudi Arabian ambassador in Nigeria to his office and expressed
in strong terms, the displeasure of the government and people of
Nigeria over the unjust persecution of
Ahman and his mother
who were unable to leave
Saudi Arabia because a travel ban had been placed on
Ahman,unjustly.
