Okonjo –Iweala sworn in as Finance
Minister,Heads New Economic Team

Dr Ngozi Okonjo -Iweala
has finally been sworn in today as the new minister of finance
in the Goodluck Jonathan administration.Her swearing in had been
delayed in order to allow her disengage from her job as Managing
Director of the World Bank .
President Jonathan also named
his new Economic
Management Team shortly after swearing in Dr Okonjo Iweala.The
new economic team is headed by the new finance minister there
over 20 other
members .The president has tasked them to meet the rising
expectations of Nigerians world at large.
Jonathan
reassured Nigerians that Okonjo –Iweala will be paid
salaries and allowances
in the Nigerian currency just like every other minister.This was
evidently meant to
lay to rest the controversy surrounding payments in Dollars
reportedly made to her
while she served as a minister under former president Olusegun
Obasanjo.
Dr Okonjo Iweala remarked today that
reforms and investments to create jobs will be her focus.She
said her actions will be
underpinned by the principles of
efficiency ,efficacy and delivery(EED).She emphasised
that her task is not a job for one person and added that
there is no magic, but she is not afraid.The new minister stated
that the ministry of finance must be a centre of excellence.
