President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has urged
Nigerians to enrich history by contributing
meaningfully to societal development and
hand down a worthy legacy to future
generations.
He stated this today while paying tribute to
late Mrs Comfort Agbonibuan Imoke, mother of
Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River, at the
funeral service in her memory at Itigidi,
Abi LGA in Cross River State.
President Jonathan described late Madam
Imoke as a star, who impacted many lives
positively both in and out of public
service. According to him, she also
multiplied her legacies “by raising up her
children in a God-fearing way such that they
too are impacting society positively."
He thus enjoined all to leave their
footprints on the sands of time, so that
successive generations can celebrate their
legacies.
In his sermon, officiating priest, Rt.
Rev. Emele Uka of the Presbyterian Church of
Nigeria, described late Mrs. Imoke as a
quintessential woman and a professional
nurse who kept her integrity all through her
professional career and family life. He
urged Nigerians to live above board in
whatever they do in life.
Also speaking on behalf of family members,
Dr. Efem Imoke, elder brother of Gov. Imoke,
extolled the qualities of his late mother,
saying she is being celebrated in death
because she lived a fulfilled life.
