The coalition for Integrity in Governance,
has urged the National Assembly to
investigate allegations of breach of the
Code of Conduct
Act and corruption against
President Goodluck
Jonathan.
The group in a statement released in Abuja
yesterday and signed by its President
Nicolas Manager, said the National Assembly
should rise up to its responsibility by
investigating the allegations because it is
capable of compromising the office of
President.
The group also called on President Jonathan
to defend himself against this weighty
allegations if he has nothing to hide.
It said the defense of such weighty
allegations by anonymous presidency sources
have raised suspicions that the allegations
might be true after all.
“The allegations of corruption and breach of
the Code of Conduct Act” are too serious to
be addressed through anonymous sources.
“It is incumbent on the president to defend
itself against these weighty allegations
which border on
breach of trust”
“The President has to address the issue of
whether he owns the properties credited to
him. He should also state where the sources
of financing the properties came from, if
truly he owns them. Finally, he has to
confirm whether he duly declared the assets
as stipulated by the law”.
This is the only way the President can lay
the ghost of these allegations to rest
otherwise they will continue to dog him”,
the group concluded.

Nicolas Manager
