Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole
has condoled with the Nigerian Television
Authority (NTA) over the death of
distinguished broadcaster, Malam Yusuf Jibo
who passed on after undergoing a medical
operation at a Lagos hospital.
In a press statement in Benin City, the
governor who also commiserated with the Jibo
family of Tudun Wada, Zaria, said the nation
has lost one of her shining lights in the
broadcast industry.
Reminiscing on Jibo’s glowing and enviable
stint at the Cable News Network (CNN),
Oshiomhole said, “We have lost a shining
star who raised the barner of the broadcast
industry and Nigerian journalism to global
standards”.
While praying fervently to the Almighty God
for the repose of Jibo’s soul, the governor
who expressed heartfelt condolences,
sympathy and grief of the
government and people of Edo State, with the
NTA management and the Nigerian media, urged
the Jibo family to take solace that their
beloved son has left an “indelible mark in
the practise of journalism”.
“We know we cannot question the Almighty God
on why he chose to take away some of our
brightest minds. But we will ever remember
Jibo for those incisive reports which
pricked our conscience and reinforced our
resolve not only for a
better
Nigeria but Africa”, Oshiomhole said.
