Wada:Governor -elect
Outgoing Governor Ibrahim Idris has had his
way as his
associate Capt.Idris Wada, the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP
candidate in yesterday’s gubernatorial
election in Kogi state was declared
today as the governor- elect.Wada
polled 300,272 to emerge as the winner of the election
which generated alot of controversy, with the most prominent
issue being reports and advertorials
questioning the mental
state of Wada.
Former Gvernor Abubakar Audu who is the
candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN
polled 159,913 votes.But
Audu’s ACN has rejected the result of the election.Dino Melaye,
an ex member of the House of Representatives in an address
expressed ACN’s total rejection of the results declared on the
grounds that there were scientific manipulation
of the outcome by PDP.
Though PDP’s Wada
has been declared the
winner, it would seem that the next round of
the battle for Kogi may shift to the election
tribunal. The ACN has some great experience in this regards as
the party had in the recent past reclaimed what it regarded as
its stolen mandates in states such as Edo, Ekiti, and Osun
states through the
tribunals.
