day in Kogi as PDP,ACN,CPC candidates seek to succeed Idris

Outgoing Gov Idris
The people of
Kogi state in
the
North central
part of Nigeria are
going to the polls today to
elect a new governor.The winner will succeed
outgoing Governor
Ibrahim Idris whose second term is about to end.
Former Governor Abubakar Audu , candidate
of Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN
and Capt Idris Wada, an
associate of the outgoing governor and candidate of Peoples
Democratic Party,PDP are the front -runners. The
race
has been characterised
by intensive campaigns
by the too leading parties.Mudslinging too
has not
been left out of the game as well.Opposition Congress for
Progressive Party,CPC is also expected to do well.
Chairman of INEC Professor Attahiru Jega
assured all that no room will be given
for any malpractices and he also said the commission
would be impartial.Importantly, he said INEC ready for the
election.
Movements have been restricted n the
state.But this is likely to cause some inconveniences to
travellers today from
other parts of the north going to south and vice versa as the
Lokoja route is a major artery connecting
the north with the south.
