Outgoing Gov Idris

The people of  Kogi state in  the  North central  part of Nigeria are going to the polls today  to elect a new governor. The winner will succeed  outgoing Governor Ibrahim Idris whose second term is about to end.

Former Governor Abubakar Audu , candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN  and Capt Idris Wada, an associate of the outgoing governor and candidate of Peoples Democratic Party,PDP are the front -runners. The  race  has been characterised by intensive  campaigns by the too leading parties.Mudslinging too  has not  been left out of the game as well.Opposition Congress for Progressive Party,CPC is also expected to do well.

Chairman of INEC Professor Attahiru Jega assured all that no room will be given  for any malpractices and he also said the commission would be impartial.Importantly, he said INEC ready for the election.

Movements have been restricted n the state. But this is likely to cause some inconveniences to travellers today  from other parts of the north going to south and vice versa as the Lokoja route is a major artery connecting   the north with the south.
