Waziri for her contributions to EFCC and wished her well in her
future endeavours.
The new EFCC boss
promised to take the EFCC to a new level by consolidating its
strengths and achievements, while seeking to improve identified
institutional weaknesses. “In the last eight years, I have been
uniquely placed as a participant and observer in the birth and
nurture of this Commission and, … while seeking to improve on
whatever institutional weaknesses there may be, I will leverage
on the abundant skills and experience in the Commission and the
immense goodwill of Nigerians to move EFCC to a new level”, he
said.
Lamorde said his
appointment signals the emergence of a new phase in the life of
the commission, adding that he would be making, “ far more
demand for professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct than
had ever been made of each and every one of us and I will not
accept any excuse whatsoever for failure”.
Earlier, Mrs.
Waziri had summed the highlights of her three and half years
stint as Chairman of EFCC to include: the launch of a citizens
based Anti-Corruption Revolution Campaign ANCHOR; Institution of

REMARKS AT THE OFFICIAL
HANDOVER CEREMONY OF
MRS.
FARIDA WAZIRI,
FORMER EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN
TO
MR. IBRAHIM
LAMORDE
ACTING
EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, EFCC
Some three and half years ago, Mrs. Waziri
and I met in a very similar circumstance.
It has been God’s will that I should be the one to
receive handover notes from her, the same way she received from
me in June 2008.
She accepted the call to national service;
she came, she saw and she has contributed her own quota to
building the EFCC.
However, President Goodluck Jonathan has tasked me to take it
from this point.
Madam, I want to wish you the very best in
your future endeavours.
In
the last eight years, I have been uniquely placed as participant
and observer in the birth and nurture of this Commission and I
have benefited from working with you over the years; I will draw
from your strengths while seeking to improve on whatever
institutional weaknesses there may be, to build on your
achievements and those of your predecessor.
I will leverage the abundant skills and experience in the
Commission and the immense goodwill of Nigerians to move EFCC to
a new level.
As this ceremony ends, we enter a new phase
in the life of the Commission.
The challenges that stare us in the face are enormous and
I want to solicit the support of everyone in the discharge of
the onerous task thrust on my shoulders by Mr. President.
I will be making more demand of every staff
of EFCC, far more demand of professionalism, integrity and
ethical conduct than had ever been made of each and every one of
us, and I will not accept any excuse whatsoever for failure.
Let us get back to work!
I thank you all.
