Unusual landslide Hits late Bola Ige’s Esa Oke town,Lawmaker seeks urgent assistance

An unusual landslide has rocked the sleepy town of Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government area of Osun State where five hectares of land have been destroyed.

 The Chairman House of Representative Committee on Defence, Hon.Oluwole has called on the Geologists in the country to come and view the area where the landslide incident occurred and also called for the assistance from the well -meaning Nigerians.

The late former Minister of Justice and Attoney General of the federation, Chief Bola Ige’s home town Esa-Oke has been threatened by a land-fall.The landslide has thrown the entire community into perpetual fear of imminent earthquake.

Newsdiaryonline.com visit to the site revealed that the slide down the slope and the mountains stretched for  about 5kilometers.The landfall according to our correspondent investigation destroyed over 5 hectares of farmland which includes, yams, maize, cassava, cocoa, kolanut, plantain farms and other valuable farm produce.

Hon. Oluwole Oke, representing Oriade/Obokun federal Constituency of Osun State also described the incident as a natural disaster which has never occurred in the community before.He said the community will need to have deep investigation into the matter as efforts are already on to inform the Federal Ministry of Environment to look into the matter.

 Oke stressed that the community will seek the services of geologists to tell the remote cause and solution to the disaster so that it will not result into earthquake in the future.

He said already the landslide has constituted a serious threat and danger to the entire community. Oke emphasized that geologists and scientific proof will help to interpret the situation so as to find lasting solution.

He however said the matter will be raised and pursued vigorously at the floor of the House when the members of the House and Representative resume for normal duty.

He appealed to the federal, state and all the stakeholders to help the community from the disaster and appealed to NEMA to come to the aid of all the affected farmers and people and the town in due course.
