gets a true Minister of Women Affairs -Vox

Following the appointment of former National President of the
National Council For
Women Societies ,Hajia Zainab Maina, as the Minister of
Women Affairs and Youth
Development, Nigerians have continued to comment on it. You
will recall that all the
major and positive achievements and accolades Nigerian
women made were during
her tenure as NCWS President. Little wonder these comments are
generous. Here are excerpts
:
Hajia Aisha Ismail,former Minister Women Affairs:
This will be the first time a President
will appoint a woman into the Office of Minister Women
Affairs, this is one
Nigerian woman who understands the issues who has paid her dues
and knows the meaning of
womanhood in Nigeria, am not surprised it is long over due and
knowing President
Jonathan, i knew he will appoint her. Congrats my sister i
have no doubt that she
will perform.
Dame Asabe Baba, National President NAWOJ:
I was very happy when i heard she had been appointed ,
infact my prayers were that she should come to a Ministry where
she was instrumental to
its creation as such i knew that with this appointment
comes alot of work
because all Nigerians hands must be on deck to support our
own dear Hajia Zainab
Maina who is a true Ambassador of Nigerian women. I also
call on all Nawojians in
the Country to give her Ministry maximum publicity. And
above all i know we can
now achieve the 35% we desire with her.

When i heard that grand
ma had been appointed ,because that is what i call her as a
mother to my mum, I was
elated at it this is one Nigerian woman who has remained herself
, despite all she has
been through, the losses, her numerous appointments, i said
to myself fortune has
smiled on grandma, I know she will take young Nigerian
girls like me and
Nigerian women generally to the next level i assure her
that Junior Chamber
International Abuja Unity will be ever ready to partner with her
as we reach the
Communities better than any i know she will deliver service to

Nigerians have gotten it right now,because i remember all
of Hajia Maina's efforts both within
the PDP and generally,
she is always there for you as long as you run to her
and when she hears that
a Nigerian woman is in trouble she rises up and
canvasses support to her
I know she would do well , President Jonathan , is
truly on course.

: I have never met her but I
have heard of all her
good works , i commend her and congratulate her
while urging her to
remember that as our mother she is not only there for women
but the youths too, i
assure her that JCI Nigeria will be willing to
partner with her because the task ahead of her is enormous
though we dont doubt her capabilities we are a phone call
away he noted.

Hajia Zainab Maina was my late wife's good friend and she was
very supportive when i lost her she was there for the children
and i. She is a mother
indeed am very happy with her appointment because i know she is
a natural women
mobiliser, there is no part of Nigeria she has not been to in
the course of serving as
National President NCWS, so she is going to do alot for Nigerian
women, i just hope the
women will be there for her. He currently runs an
education consultancy
outfit.

say am happy is an understatement, I fell off my chair in Joy
when I heard the appointment. Hajia Zainab Maina is a born
leader infact I kept wondering
why she had not come to the senate or been made Governor
unanimously in Adamawa,
because she is a Mother and a born Leader. I do not know how she
does it but her stamina
as a grand mother is equal to none in the country , she
is always on her toes
advocating for Nigerian women , i wish her all the best and
I know NAWOJ will definitely be there for her.

results because i have heard so many good things about

At the Ministry of Women Affairs the joy on the faces of the
staff at the various
offices we entered showed that they were happy to have a mother
and an understanding
leader as their new Minister, one of the staff who pleaded
anonymity said " am
happy that they brought Hajia Zainab Maina to this
Ministry, i have never
worked with her but as a young undergraduate when she was
NCWS President she
achieved so much and i am happy we now have her in our
Ministry."
