The attempt by Dino Melaye to resume at the
House of Representatives in line with a
court
ruling was
today frustrated at the National Assembly.
Melaye had arrived in the morning only to
meet a brickwall as he was denied entrance.
Eye witnesses said Melaye, a member of the
House of Representatives from Kogi State
also blocked the main
entrance to
the National Assembly for some hours. Those
who witness the drama said it lasted from
morning till afternoon. And there were some
victims of the impasse.
For instance, all the
procurement cadre staff of the National
Assembly undergoing training at the National
Merit House could not return to their
Offices when they were expected at 2pm after
the day’s training.
Even,
a source said,
some principal staff of the National
Assembly was locked inside because the main
entrance was barricaded. Some junior staff
used the alternative entrance to reach their
bosses and avoided the main entrance,
according to an eye witness
``And people had to park their vehicles far
away and trek into the National Assembly
premises through the back entrance’’ the
witness said.
