Wife of the
Rivers State Governor Dame Judith
Amaechi says women especially
mothers are veritable instrument in
achieving government policies for the
Nigerian child.
Mrs. Amaechi stated this Wednesday
during the foundation laying and flag
off of ESI Model
Nursery school
in Oyigbo council area of
Rivers State.
She said mothers must play a vital role
in realizing all convention on the child
and the realization of the
millennium
development goals for children.
The governor’s wife who is also the
founder, Empowerment Support Initiative
said the (ESI) Model Nursery School is
set up to complement the state effort in
revamping the education sector and to
tackle the decadence in societal value
from the cradle.
She further added that the nursery
school will not only provide early
knowledge but will mould the children to
appreciate proper moral value from
infancy.
According to her “we want to catch these
children from infancy because ages 3-6
are the formative age and the children
will be disposed to assimilate what is
thought and will practice it
accordingly”.
The governor’s wife who also inaugurated
the Oyigbo chapter of Elmadom
Fellowship, an Inter-denominational
Prayer wing of the ESI charged the women
to inculcate
Christian values and virtues in
the children.
Mrs. Amaechi also paid a visit to the
palace of Eze Samuel Nweke in council to
solicit the traditional rulers support
for the nursery
school initiative.
In her speech, wife of the Chairman Mrs.
Precious Oforji said establishment of
the ESI nursery school was timely and
will provide opportunity for less
privileged children who could not enjoy
pre-primary education.
Chairman of the council Chief Precious
Oforji who pledged to donate a bus to
the school said the council will donate
additional land to enable the school
transform to a primary school in the
nearest future.
In his speech the ESI administrator Nowa
Omoresbi disclosed that ESI nursery has
two thousand, four hundred pupils in six
local
government council and solicited
the cooperation of the community in
making the schools a reality.
The governor’s wife during the event
commissioned a cottage hospital and a
road constructed by the Oyigbo council.

FOREIGNERS ON PEACE

region may have been yielding results as
women from different nationalities
living in Port
Harcourt organized an
International Cultural Fair aimed at
promoting cultural integration among the
people.
The event put together by the
Kaleidoscope
Committee was designed to showcase
unity in
diversity among nations.

Cultural Fair tagged Kaleidoscope in
garden city demonstrates the state
government determination to promote
peace and stability as well as provide
enabling business environment for
investors.
Mrs Amaechi stated that inter-cultural
interaction among nations was a
veritable platform to promote peace
among nations of the world.
She stated that the event was an
indication that peace has returned to
the state, taking into cognisance that
the event was stage along the creeks of
the Niger Delta.
She charged foreigners to see themselves
as part of Nigerian community and to
contribute to the development of the
people.
Mrs Amaechi called on investors to take
the advantage of the state government
peace initiative to boost their
businesses and invest in the state.
Highpoint of the event was inspection of
food stands of different participating
countries of the world and display of
diverse
cultural heritage.
The First International Cultural Fair
tagged “Kaleidoscope in
Garden City”
was held to promote
cultural
diversity of nations.
