Senator Ali Ndume was today returned to the
custody of the
State Security Services, SSS after he was arraigned before
a Federal High Court in Abuja ,Nigeria. He would be in the
SSS custody temporarily but
even his lawyer Ricky Tarfa, SAN agreed the prison
ought to be the place
for Ndume today after his pleas has been taken.
Ndume was arraigned
on a four count charge
bordering on giving support to a terrorist
group.He pleaded not
guilty. His case was withdrawn from a magistrate court
as a fresh case was instituted at the High court.
Newsdiaryonline learnt that
there was disquiet in official circles over the sort of
trial Ndume was being
put through at the
Magistrate court.
Ndume’s link with the Islamic militant
group Boko Haram was exposed by Sanda
Konduga , a former
spokesman of the group who said the senator
has supported the group
.He also alleged that the Senator often crafted text messages
which he forwarded to
Konduga in order to intimidate top officials of government.
Tarfa however was not happy with prolonged
detention without bail of Ndume beyond the
constitutionally guaranteed period.
