NUJ Abuja congratulates Jonathan ...Gov Daniel says
it's a new dawn for Nigeria

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja, has hailed
Nigerians over the peaceful and credible presidential poll,
stating that it signposts the peoples willingness
for democracy. The Union
in a statement by Jacob Edi, Chairman of Council, said Nigerians
are the real victors in the whole exercise, noting that the
transparent manner of the process gives hope that the country
was on the march to participatory democracy where the peoples’
vote indeed counts.
Edi was full of praise for President Goodluck Jonathan for his
non interference in the process and keeping to his promise of
One man One Vote, stressing that it gives great hope for the
country. He also extended the congratulations of the president
for his election by the Nigerian people, observing that Jonathan
should see his victory as an act of God and work for the good of
the people that have given him their mandate en masse.
“This election is inspiring and gives great hope that we can do
things right in this country if we put our minds to it. This
victory is to the Nigerian people who defied scorching sun,
rainfall and other difficult terrain to cast their votes in the
hope of a better Nigeria.
“President Jonathan deserves to be commended for his support to
the INEC and more importantly for his non-interference. We
congratulate him on his victory and hope that he will use his
victory to advance the cause of the Nigerian people as well as
reach out to his opponents so as to forge close alliance and
build bridges for the good of all Nigerians,” Edi said.
The NUJ chairman commended the INEC especially its chairman,
Prof. Attahiru Jega, for a credible process and the integrity of
the exercise and called on him to ensure an even better
governorship and House of Assembly poll.
Also ,Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has described
the victory of Dr Goodluck Jonathan in the April 16 presidential
elections as new dawn for the country. Governor Daniel said by
electing Dr Jonathan, Nigerians have deepened the unity of the
country and shown the world that democracy has come to stay. He
said Dr Jonathan’s victory did not come as a surprise
to him since the President- elect has endeared himself to
Nigerians through his simplicity, sense of patriotism and
demonstrable capacity and capability to confront the present
challenges in the country .The Governor said the victory of Dr
Goodluck Jonathan is a victory for all Nigerians given the fact
that he garnered appreciable votes all over the nation.
“Nigerians have spoken with one voice, President Jonathan will
not disappoint them and I am sure that the transformation of
Nigeria will be given a renewed fillip in the new dispensation.
Under the watch of Dr Jonathan and Architect Namadi Sambo the
peace, unity and progress of the country have further been
assured. All of us irrespective of our ethnic background,
religious affliation and political leanings should cooperate
with the President elect in order to take our nation to the next
level,''Governor Daniel further stated.
The Governor appealed to all Nigerians to shun divisive
tendencies and other acts that could taint what is already
turning out to be one of the finest moments for the country. He
appealed to those protesting the result of the election to
sheathe their sword for the sake of the country.
