Osun State will deter and punish violence

By Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola

My good people of Osun state, I once again wish to express my profound gratitude for your unalloyed support during the dark days of the recently ousted impostors. You stood on the part of justice, fairness and emancipation. Those small steps of showing your undying love for our struggle became a big step towards the attainment of our collective dream and a giant step in heralding a new dawn in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.

Together we have won a legal battle that many skeptics had deemed impossible just a week ago, against the full money, guile and machinations of do or die politicians that had a strangle hold on the Osun state political space some days back. This is a miracle that we created together and now we have created history.

November 26th 2010 would forever be remembered in the annals of Osun State as the day of Redemption for Osun State and transforming the hitherto rudderless state into the bastion of hope for all development loving Nigerians. You have so altruistically demonstrated your resolve that never will anybody take you the good people of Osun for granted.

It is, therefore, on this note that I wish to draw your attention to the alleged plans by some of our detractors to stoke violence and create chaos under the guise that it is Action Congress of Nigeria members that are retaliating the oppression, repression and depression that they suffered under the ousted despotic regime of Brigadier General Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

I wish to note that the struggle for political emancipation is often frustrated by thoughtless individualism. We are currently celebrating a fresh breath of hope, freedom and liberation from the shackles of fear, tyranny, maiming, killing, retrogression and opportunism.  Therefore, those who may wish to perpetrate clannish or individual vendetta would unwittingly be jeopardizing the very fundamentals of our current joy.

To this end, we have directed all security agents to take care of any criminal that may wish to corrode the joy, happiness and celebration that currently pervade Osun State. The maximum weight of the law would be invoked upon any lawlessness that may be perpetrated by anybody or group irrespective of political affiliation.

It is a new day in Osun state. In our bid to actualize the Awolowo slogan of freedom for all and life more abundant, the only things we need to fight now are poverty and backwardness and together we shall win!

God Bless you all.

Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola

Governor,

Osun State
