Update:Acting President
Goodluck Jonathan has denied a report
that he had met President Umaru
YarAdua.A statement by Ima Niboro, the
acting president's spokesman said the
the report which claimed that Jonathan
met YarAdua over the weekend was
incorrect as no such meeting had taken
place.
The full text of the statement issued
this evening by Mr Niboro
said:``There are reports making
the rounds in the media that the
Acting President Dr Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan, met with President YarAdua
this morning.This story is
entirely false.The Acting President has
not seen the president since his return
from Saudi Arabia last week.This
is for clarification please''
The statement confirms a
report earlier today by
Newsdiaryonline that the acting
president has not met YarAdua.
Our report earlier :
Official sources in Abuja on Monday
afternoon insisted that Acting
President Goodluck Jonathan was yet to
see President Umaru Yar'Adua.
According to
an official who briefed newsdiaryonline
this afternoon:"the acting president has
not seen the president.A report
earlier that he has seen YarAdua is
false. That is the update I can confirm
to you''
This
revelation will confirm the fear that
the uncertainty over Turai, the sick
president's intention has not abated.
Many expect
that the acting president will announce
sweeping changes that will help him
consolidate his hold on power.But
YarAdua's shadow continues to lurk in
the horizon
YarAdua was
forced back to Nigeria on Tuesday from
Saudi Arabia where he had gone for
medical attention after his continued
stay in hospital became a source of
diplomatic nightmare for the Saudi
government
But his wife
ably assisted by the president's aides e
have effectively barred evryone from
seeing Yaradua who is believed to be in
a vegetable state now.
Meanwhile his
aides are said to have become the focus
of attention by foreign governments who
are said to be monitoring all their
moves especially the illegal financial
deals recently carried out in the name
of the president.Newsdiaryonline
has reported that the state oil
corporation NNPC is reeling under
the weight of massive looting perfected
by Yar'Adua's men.
In another
development Jonathan continues to
receive international support from the
United States,United Kingdom and the
European Union.Their concern has
always been to ensure stability in
Nigeria.
