As the
Chairman Appropriation Committee in the
Senate, Otunba Iyiola Omisore took his
gubernatorial campaign to Ijesaland, the
paramount ruler of Ijesa, Owa Obokun Of
Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle
Aromolaran has charged him to think of
repositioning the traditional council if
given the chance come 2011.
The
monarch who decried the mode in which
traditional council in the state is
being positioned, said that there should
be need for equitable , uniformity and
fairness in positioning monarchs in the
state.
Oba
Aromolaran stressed that situation where
there will be dispute on seniority
should be put to rest by Omisore
administration if given the mandate.
The
paramount ruler also enjoined the
aspirant to equally look at the problem
of scarcity of water in his domain as
the major headache to the entire
Ijesaland.
Earlier
in his address at the palace, Senator
Iyiola Omisore promised to look into the
issue raised by the paramount ruler when
the time comes.
Senator
Omisore however informed the monarch
that the N1billion channelization of
Oora River in Kajola, Atakunmosa-West
Local Government Area of the state will
soon be completed.
He
remarked that he has personally met with
the Minister in Charge of Water
Resources on the issues in an effort to
resolve the problem of water in the
area.
Senator
Omisore pointed out that the
channelization was one of his priority
and already N1bilion had been paid to
the contractor handling the project.
The
aspirant also pledged to attract more
federal Government presence to the area
so that the people of Ijesaland will
reap the dividends of democracy during
his time in office.
While
speaking on the recent crisis which
claimed one life in the area, Senator
Omisore said that the people involved
are not his followers.
According to him, “thuggery is not in my
character therefore none of the people
involved are my people but however
condemned the act in totality.
