Newsdiaryonline has learnt that former
President Olusegun Obasanjo
deliberately stayed away from the
rally in Umuahia today to receive
Governor TA Orji back to the Peoples
Democratic Party,PDP.The event
meant to celebrate the mercurial
governor’s return to the ruling party
was witnessed by President Goodluck
Jonathan ,Vice President Namadi Sambo
and Okwesilieze Nwodo the PDP national
chairman among others .
Orji said on the occasion that it was
like homecoming for him .President
Jonathan reportedly thanked the people
of the state for making the occasion a
reality while Nwodo was full of Joy.
But Obasanjo popularly called OBJ,
according was conspicuously absent.A
source close to OBJ revealed today that
the BOT chairman failed to go to Abia
for Orji return because he believes ‘ TA
is a betrayer and cannot be trusted .OBJ’s
associate said his boss feels TA ``can’t
be trusted and he is unfit to be a
governor``.But Jonathan and his mean do
not seem to share OBJ’s distrust of TA
and they helped to make the occasion a
success for Orji.
Whatever happens, TA is certainly going
to explain to the public why he
abandoned the APGA which he joined after
ditching the PPA platform which former
governor Orji Kalu used to install him
despite strong opposition then
Ironically it was Obasanjo who did not
want TA to succeed Kalu.But Kalu pulled
all the stops to ensure victory and from
indications now OBJ believes TA ought to
be grateful for the tough battle Kalu
fought to install him.Reports however
said TA and Kalu fell apart due to
irreconcilable differences.
It seems now that in OBJ’s view the
whole saga boils down to the question of
trust , loyalty and
reliability.Newsdiaryonline had earlier
reported that OBJ actually warned
President Jonathan not to trust TA
because in Obasanjo’s reasoning ,if TA
could betray Kalu, then he can betray
any other person .
