Daniel mourns Pa Adesanya's wife,Calls Suleja
bomb blast a dastardly act Newsdiaryonline,Sat March 5,2011
The Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has described
the death of Mrs. Rosanna Arinola Adesanya, wife of the
late Afenifere leader, Pa Abraham Adesanya as the exit of a
woman who quietly contributed her own quota to the growth and
development of the Yoruba race. She said with her death the
Yoruba nation has lost an epitome of womanhood and a stabilizing
force at the home front who displayed admirable qualities of a
good wife and mother all through her life. .
“In the dark days of the military dictatorship when her husband
faced various forms of intimidation and persecution, mama
displayed equanimity and provided the needed support at home.
Her hospitality and warmth radiated to all who visited the
Adesanya family home. She stood with Papa Abraham Adesanya
through thick and thin, a rare attribute which the present
generation should emulate. With her death, Yoruba land and the
entire country has lost a role model for the women folk who
taught her generation the essence and credo of the
quintessential African woman” the Governor said in the
statement.
The Governor also prayed for the repose of her soul and
that God should give the children, family members, leaders and
members of the Afenifere and the Yoruba race the fortitude to
bear the loss.
Also Governor Daniel has said under no circumstances should
political actors or those who have any misgivings about the
state of the nation resort to violence or any act that is
undemocratic. He stated this while reacting to the bomb blast at
the People’s Democratic Party rally in Suleja, Niger State. The
Governor said those behind the dastardly act are cowards who do
not wish the country well. The Governor also appealed to
Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies in their bid to
fish out those who committed the heinous crime.
“We condemn the dastardly act in the strongest terms and we wish
to state unequivocally that such an act is an aberration and all
Nigerians irrespective of their political and religious leaning
should rise up against attempts by desperate individuals to
force a culture of violence and fear on the country. We want to
restate that those who have issues with the polity should
express their misgivings in civilized manner and under no
circumstances should such a disagreement become an avenue to
maim and kill innocent individuals like was done in Suleja.
Those behind the mindless bomb blast must be arrested and
visited with the full weight of the law, “the Governor further
stated
Otunba Daniel also commiserated with President Goodluck
Jonathan, Dr Babangida Alliyu, the Governor of Niger State and
the family of the victims.
