PDP loses bid to stop CPC's petition
against Jonathan
Newsdiaryonline Thur July 14,2011

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ruled that
the petition filed by the CPC challenging the election of
President Goodluck Jonathan is competent. In effect, the court
has dismissed the prayers of the ruling party which sought to
strike out CPC's petition on several grounds.
PDP said the CPC petition was not proper
because it was filed on Sunday. The PDP also challenged the
competence of the CPC petition on other grounds including the
fact that Muhammadu Buhari, the party's presidential candidate
and Tunde Bakare the running mate were not party to it.
But the court ruled that the CPC petition
filed on Sunday was competent because there are laws supporting
judicial functions even on weekends. The court however struck
out the aspect of the CPC petition concerning the SSS ,because
the SSS is not a party to the petition.
Now it appears councsels on both sides
