The Founder,
New Covenant Gospel Church, Rev Felix
Omobude on Sunday took a swipe at past
administrations in Edo state for their
negligence in providing infrastructural
development in the state just as he
commended Governor Adams Oshiomhole for the
on-going transformation in the state.
Rev. Omobude
who made these remarks in Benin City during
his homily to climax the seven-day 2010
International Convention of the Church said
the on-going
infrastructural transformation in
the state is the first of its kind in many
years.
According to
him, it is sad that some politicians refused
to be agents of
positive
change to make the society better, urging
Christians to be agents of change wherever
they find themselves.
He therefore
enjoined them not to avoid politics but to
remain active participants to guarantee good
governance at all levels, praising the Edo
state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for
the development witnessed so far in the
state.
While
advising that the present tempo of
development should be sustained, the cleric
said that “the only way individuals in
positions of authority can make the desired
impact is to strive to work in conformity
with God’s word”.
He told the
congregation that they should ensure that
credible persons are elected into office in
the 2011 general elections to guarantee good
governance
The Edo
State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who
promised to sustain and improve on the
on-going urban renewal drive maintained that
his intention is to make a difference in the
lives of Edo people through projects that
will impact positively on them.
“Despite the
lean finances of the state, the basic needs
of the people must be addressed and all that
we need from the people are prayers because
we believe absolutely in God”, he added.
Oshiomhole
emphasised that his purpose of being in
government is to make a positive difference
in the lives of the people and pledged his
commitment to sustain and improve on what is
already on-going which according to him is
one of the ways to appreciate Edo people for
their sacrifices that brought him to power.
In another
engagement, Comrade Oshiomhole was a guest
at the 2010 Adult Harvest of St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church, Benin City where he
described the relationship existing between
the church and the government as very
cordial and assured that his
administration will continue to support the
church to sustain the prevailing peace in
the state.
The service
with the theme,’ Harvest of Restoration
witnessed a prayer session by dignitaries
for the church and the nation, especially
for a peaceful general election in 2011.
