Preparations in top gear for NN24 Presidential Debate
By
Anthony Dara      Mon 14/3/11

Following the level of success recorded in the vice presidential debate, the NN24 Presidential Debate Committee are going ahead with the arrangements for the presidential debate scheduled for Friday, 18th March 2011 at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Invitations have been sent out to the four political parties being represented at the debate, members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, the business community, civil society groups, women and youth organisations among others.

The 120-minutes debate will cover a wide range of national and international issues including the economy, security, foreign affairs, education, health and gender related issues.

We will also like to use this opportunity to apologize for the failure of the satellite transmission to go live during the vice presidential debate. This was due to connectivity problems which have now been rectified. We have compensated Nigerians for this through the continuous airing of the unedited version of the debate on NN24, BEN TV (UK) and on the internet through suburbanlive.com/live-nn24, Facebook and Youtube. Attempts are being made to air it on other television networks in Nigeria before the presidential debate on Friday.

As of today, reactions on the vice presidential debates have been favourable with many Nigerians commenting on the high quality of production and articulation of topical national issues by the vice presidential candidates of the four parties: Pastor Tunde Bakare (CPC), Mr Fola Adeola (ACN) and Chief John Oyegun (ANPP).

NN24 Presidential Debate Committee hereby restates its commitment to organising one of the best debates in recent times.
