Disregard ‘prophets’ of presidential election run-off - Lar
Newsdiaryonline Thur March 31,2011

The founding chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Chief
(Dr.) Solomon Lar has predicted a massive win for President
Goodluck Jonathan in the April 9th presidential elections.
He said while in an interactive session with the media in Abuja
that the PDP Presidential candidate will not only record a
landslide victory but will go down in history as the first
president of Nigeria to rake-in the highest vote cast.
According to him insinuations in some quarters that the
presidential polls will go into a run-off was only a figment of
imagination of those he called regional political jobbers
desperately looking for cheap public attention.
Chief Lar explained that Goodluck and his running mate Namadi
Sambo have worked so hard selling their vision and programme to
the people thereby positioning themselves well in the minds of
all Nigerians and indeed the electorates.
The first civilian Governor of old Plateau State noted that the
unprecedented contact the President had with Nigerians in the
cause of his campaign has endeared the people to own the ticket
as their own.
“Nobody has touched their lives (Nigerians) like the PDP.
Presidential candidate Goodluck is a wonderful Goodluck and the
people love him. And so, I know our people will definitely make
the correct choice by electing president Goodluck come April
9th. I am positive about that”, he said.
The first republic parliamentarian extolled what he called the
human and simple disposition of the PDP Presidential candidate
which he said made the people to tap into his aspiration as
their real hope into the future.
Chief Lar who is also the Walin Langtang, said he was extremely
happy that the country with its multifaceted backgrounds was
supportive of collective bargaining to entrench the practice of
democracy.
He praised Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for being a truly servant
leader whose short tenure in office has witnessed heart-warming
changes and transformation.
The elder statesman observed that as a pan-Nigerian political
party, PDP will continue to promote the principle of social
justice and national cohesion and deliver the dividends of
democracy to the people.
“PDP is still PDP. Anything that is not democratic is not PDP”,
Chief Lar said.
Chief Lar enjoined Nigerians to fully take advantage of what he
called the spirit of a new Nigeria by voting enmass to the
President and also conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful
manner for the success of the April polls.
The veteran politician and icon of middle belt politics also
commended the efforts of the Nigeria Election Debate Group,
NEDG, under the aegis of BON to allow presidential candidates
interact more meaningful by the broadcast of the debate through
local media houses.
