A young Non-Governmental Organization named Patriotic Youth
Initiative for Poverty Eradication (PYIPE), has vowed to chase
poverty out Nigeria, in particular and Africa in general, as
they say that they have found the antidote. This is coming
days after President Jonathan launched YouWin to
empower the Nigerian youth.
National Coordinator of the advocacy group with over 3000
members across Nigeria, Patriotic Ambassador Alhaji ’Remi Nasir,
an administrator by training, says his organization has
identified a three-pronged approach to “putting the final nail
on the coffin of poverty,” and thereby create a poverty-free
society, namely through:
1.
Conditional Cash Transfer: periodic release of monetary gifts to
the needy and downtrodden
to meet crucial needs such as school fees for children
and wards as well as medical bills;
2.
Business Development Scheme: Interest-free advances to boost
trade and businesses for higher returns, which should be
reflected in the standard of living of the citizens thus
engaged; and
3.
Wealth Creation: via a two-pronged approach which
will engender: a) Human Capital Development aimed at
creating skilled citizens
and b) employment of unemployed but skilled persons on
Estate Development construction sites
which abound across the land and in large, Mechanized
Agricultural Development Projects around the country.
Alhaji Nasir, who is enjoining every family to join the NGO, as
there is no hiding from poverty when it comes, also spoke on the
Vision and Mission of of his association among which is “to
facilitate development of state and non-state actors’
partnership and understanding of the ‘Poverty and Hunger
Eradication Nexus’ as the Patriots emphasize human security and
contribution to the quest for peaceful, stable, strong and
virile polity for which the Patriots will develop mechanisms and
frameworks for the emergence and/or sustenance of viable
partnerships among stakeholders.
Nasir and the Patriots believe that poverty breeds corruption,
insecurity, and social vices of all kinds, such as indiscipline
and lawlessness. Being a Patriot, a member of the NGO, means
enlisting in the social army to phase out poverty, so that
society will be the better for it.
His final words: “Be a Patriot! Join hands with other patriotic
youth in this crucial Initiative for Poverty Eradication!”
